it appears they want to keep us excited and might be hinting that episode3 is beeing turned into hl3 but that would be just wild guessing

I've previously read comments from Gabe where he basically said that the HL2 episodes are HL3. Either way I'd be happy with another episode.

HL3 being based on a new engine would certainly explain the wait

well the new engine is beeing worked on
that has been proven by the files people found wich were then deleted from peoples hard drive by valve only a few days after they were found, also the logo for source2 has been found
