Wp7 is awful, only thing I find appealing to it is the fact it has a nice UI

You guys need to do some research. WP7 owns Android. If you want a virus on your mobile, get Android. If you want bugger all patches for security problems, go Android. The only negative I've found with WP7 is that the developer community isn't that big yet. Other than that, I have the fastest, slickest phone I've ever used. I've got an HTC HD7, the only time I've had to reset it was when I installed an update. Contrast that against my mate's Nexis S, where he has to reset the thing every couple of weeks because something will resource hog and feck it up, iPhones that decide they won't work on your wireless for a week even though it did yesterday (not to mention the awful UI), Blackberrys that rely on RIM's dodgy network infrastructure and need battery pulls for random crashes.........

If HP had released WebOS on decent hardware rather than shite, we probably wouldn't be having this conversation, cause WebOS really does own.

Getting back on topic - I just downloaded 'Skymap free' from the app store. Not sure if it's the same thing you were after. You can point you phone to the sky and it maps out the stars and planets so you know what you are looking at. If she just searches for skymap in the marketplace it will show up

Yes, you go into the options for the application and switch on 'point to sky'. It then asks you to move the phone is a certain pattern to calibrate the accelerometers and GPS for the application. You sure it's an HD2? never heard of that one.

I have done my research, lol, I basically live mobile phones. Don't get me wrong, I do like Wp7, but I much prefer Android, it's so open it's brilliant, I worry it will become less open with ICS coming out soon.
