the licence fee is officially a tv tax as a proportion of it goes directly to the UK government, not on broadcasting costs. btw in britain we pay the government so we can own a television. A colour TV Licence costs £142.50. a year.
3 we have 2 phone lines so £12 on top of the tax i already pay. guess they need to raise cash for cleaning their moats etc.

You do know that this "extra speed" you get is up to a total of 2Mb/s. So most of us wont actually gain anything as we pay for higher from third party companies. Just wasted money.

Its because the government wants to get all the old dears to have internet access, and then they can brag that every home in the country has internet access. Just wait 10 years and most houses will have it anyway!

But yes, 2Mb is slow, and we will still be purchasing 8 from Sky. This hasnt changed anythinbg, apart from the fact we now have to pay more for a service a lot of people wont actually use.

see at the min i done mind as the internet here is shit and can only get 512kb so stop whinning and pay up so i can have better internet......

i dont get it, is it so that they can install fibre optics for everyone? suppose it makes sense in the long run as more and more media is coming through the internets. like that onlive service, thats gonna need quite a bit of internets to run. but if all the old biddies get internets wont that take away some of my internets, or are they making more internets for everyone to share because i dont really want to be sharing out the ones i got now cus theres not many left. and whats with all that turning off anologue radio signals by 2015 buisness, i for one love using my old wireless to listen to the speaks.

well yer, ya know what i mean, this country is FUKKED UP ! i heard we got 20% of the worlds CCTV in the UK ! thats a lot ! we pay tax on our wage, then first thing we pay for to get to work is fuel, they tax us on that, then beer/smoke tax, then VAT on all things we wanna buy !, then charge us COUNCIL TAX ! OMG, thanks to the person who started this topic, i feel sooo much better now !
