Hi All,

Unlike, what I suspect is most of you.... I am opting to buy a desktop rather than building a customer desktop.
1. I dont have the patience to build one myself
2. I am **** at building stuff so I would probably screw it up.

Therefore I would be very grateful for your input.

I am looking at spending a maximum of £1000, preferably less. This is to include the desktop, screen, and if possible decent sound system.

The focus of the desktop is gaming, although I will probably use it for more than that to be honest.

Any and all good suggestions welcome.

You can buy it from komplett.se and just pick the parts and they will assemble it! They got some deafult rigs aswell!

I think webhallen got a similar service!

For a £1000 gaming build I'd be choosing AMD throughout, (or a high end I5) GPU would definately be a R9 290x.

8GB of RAM is plenty but go for stuff with the lowest "CL" values.

Storage wise I'd be looking at a couple of small SSDs (128GB each) on a RAID 0 for the system and a 1-3 TB HDD for files

Networking: most cards will do here long as it's a Gigabit card (some cards manipulate the stack to prioritise gaming packets but it's a useless feature because your ISP doesn't)

Air cool it: Water cooling requires good working knowledge of the components and their maintenance.

A single TM panel with an output of 100Hz and 2ms response will do you just fine (will already be so much better than your 60Hz panel on the laptop,
don't touch an IPS they are for photo/video editors.

Sound: I find most motherboards have good enough sound cards built in: A set of £60 odd quid Logitech speakers will do just fine
(if you're an audiophile like me you'll need to spend a good bit more than a grand).
